Prospecting can be difficult in any sales career…but with farmers, it can be especially challenging.
When farmers don’t know you or when you don’t make a good first impression, they can be very good at putting you off.
They’ll make up an excuse or a flat-out lie because they’re often too nice and don’t want to hurt your feelings when you ask for an appointment to come back.
The excuses they give for being unable to give you an appointment are often just lies.
Heck, my dad farmed for 55 years and I caught him lying to seed sales reps countless times.
