Rod Cam –
There are a million reasons why you can’t wash your car or truck before every sales call, especially this time of year.
Heck, I’ve heard every reason and excuse under the sun.
But there is one reason why you must wash your vehicle before each and every sales call.
And the reason is to raise perceptions of you, your company, and the products you sell (in that order).
The moment you pull into the yard of a brand new prospect, or even a current customer, you want to immediately raise perceptions of yourself in their mind.
After all, the first thing they notice when you drive up is your vehicle. It is the first signal you send to the grower about how you conduct business.
When I talk about the concept of washing your truck, car, or SUV on a weekly, or even daily basis most sales reps think it’s just a silly little tactic. But what they don’t understand is that this tactic is part of the overall strategy of setting yourself apart from the competition.
You think it’s easy to wash your car before every sales call?
Heck No.
I live in Minnesota where every time it snows the D.O.T. is salting and sanding the roads. While this makes the roads safer, it makes my vehicle look horrible. Then come spring, summer, and fall and driving on gravel roads is inevitable and makes for a very dusty mess.
In our third episode of ROD CAM, I will challenge you with the concept of keeping your “stage” clean and will give you a simple test to see if you really believe in this concept.
Check out the video below. It’s so short you could even watch it while you’re in the car wash!
